More Cranes

Back out near Kearney with the Platte River at the Crossroads conference. We spent most of the day hearing from folks in the know about issues attached to the Platte. The tail end of the day, however, was spent in a blind at the Rowe Sanctuary watching the sun set and the cranes come in to roost. At one point the flock turned back and flew over our blind obscuring the sky and drowning us in their calls. Absolutely incredible. Tomorrow is an early day. We head back to the blind at 5am to see them depart for their feeding areas. So cool.

Irony I don't know

Few complaints exist about the honeymoon in CO. Saw the Sandhill cranes on the way out, ate good food, met up with friends and saw some shows and of course were blessed with plenty of ride time on the slopes. Summit county treated us right with either bluebird days or by dropping a few inches of freshies. An amazing time as my amazing partner for life will attest. However, an underlying irony exists. Despite elevation and atmosphere we had to come back to the flatlands to find full feet of powder.
